Blanchette School of Irish Dance
The Blanchette School of Irish Dance provides
outstanding training in traditional Irish Dance for all ages. Located
in Northern Nevada, classes are offered in Carson City, Lake Tahoe and
Reno, Nevada. Classes are available for all ages and abilities, from
toddler to adult and from beginner to advanced. Students learn
traditional and contemporary styles in both soft and hard shoe.

Boldrick Theater
The Bob Boldrick Theater located inside the Carson City Community Center
has been a staple of the performing arts in Carson City since opening in 1974. Patrons experience a wealth of creative community
offerings ranging from school programs to professional touring shows in this intimate
environment. Technical amenities include a proscenium stage with fly tower, modern
lighting, sound and effects. The Theater’s
lighting system was renovated in summer of 2007 and future renovations of this
treasured facility are being scheduled.
| Brewery Arts Center
The Brewery Arts Center (BAC) is a 30-year-old 501(c)3
organization operating as a regional arts and cultural center. The BAC
serves the entire eastern Sierra region reaching from Susanville, CA to
Bridgeport, CA and includes Douglas, Lyon, Washoe, and Churchill
counties in Nevada, as well as Carson City (wholly occupying Carson
County). The Brewery strives to offer the very best in the performing
and visual arts programming to the citizens of the eastern Sierra
region. |
The Capital City Arts Initiative is an artist-centered
organization committed to the encouragement and support of artists and
the arts and culture of Carson City and the surrounding region. The
Initiative is committed to community building for the area's diverse
adult and youth populations through art projects and exhibitions, live
events, arts education programs, artist residencies, and its web site. |
Carson Chamber Singers, an affiliate of
the Carson City Symphony, was founded in 1985 by Director, Judy Monson.
Each year, they perform in three or more concerts in Carson City, and
they sing with the Reno Philharmonic on July 4 in Genoa. They
participated in the national 2000 Continental Harmony project and were
honored to sing at opening ceremonies for the 2005 Nevada Legislature
and the 2006 National VFW Convention. For information and auditions,

Carson
City Convention and Visitors Bureau are dedicated to establishing
Carson City as a destination city in order to draw more visitors and
increase their length and frequency of stay. Additionally, the bureau
works to enhance revenues and to provide funding and facilities for
local recreation. |
Carson City Library
The Carson City Library is a valuable resource to the
entire community for information, education and entertainment. The
Carson City Library team works together to provide the best service
possible to the community. Many are dedicated volunteers who give
selflessly of themselves toward the betterment of Carson City citizens
and visitors. |

Enjoy a day with the family at this lively, hands-on
museum where children discover that learning and fun go together. This
facility presents colorful, wide-open spaces in which kids can explore
and learn experientially. Exhibits are as basic as dress-up and as
instructional as provoking interest in the scientific premises behind
mirrors, gravity, and emergency medicine.
Other displays focus on local topography and navigating a grocery
store. In-house collections feature rocks and minerals, rocking horses,
and trains. |

| Carson City Parks and Recreation Department
The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department has
succeeded in assuring that current and future generations of Carson
City will have wide open spaces. They have worked to supply funding for
the Aquatic Center, the Edmond Sports Complex and more. Mills Park is
home to festivals and outdoor activities and Fuji Park is a fun spot
for families and their dogs. The Parks Department maintains and
oversees 40 parks and facilities for the enjoyment of Carson City’s
residents and guests. |
The Carson City Redevelopment Authority stimulates
activity in the Redevelopment District through incentives, creating a
sense of community and enhancing the historic character of the city.
With business-friendly approval processes, Carson City is continually
examining its downtown revitalization efforts and enhancing the
competitiveness of its outlying commercial corridors. This will ensure
Carson City always meets the needs of new and existing businesses as
well as to position the city as a vibrant economic hub on the West
Coast. |
Carson City Symphony
The
Carson City Symphony was founded in 1984 as the Carson City Chamber
Orchestra and gave its first concert in October that year. It is a
community orchestra open to amateur and volunteer professional
musicians. Members come from all walks of life and have ranged in age
from middle school students to senior citizens. The Symphony performs
five or more concerts each year for audiences in Carson City. |
Carson High believes that all students have unique
needs, and their individuality is valued and respected. Their art
department is one of the best in Northern Nevada. It strives to provide
a culturally rich environment where students can enjoy an atmosphere
appreciative of the arts. They can choose anywhere from art and music
to ceramics and theatre classes. |

Comma Coffee Art Gallery
Comma Coffee would be the comma... the pause... the
breath... the break between two thoughts. We lead such busy isolated
lives, yet all the while longing for a sense of community. You will
find that feeling as Comma Coffee. The Backseat Gallery is a project
sponsored by zArtist.com and hosted by Comma Coffee. The Backseat
Gallery presents month-long exhibitions of work by regional artists.
Artist receptions are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month. |

Dance Spirit is the only studio in the
Carson Valley that teaches Dance education through movement. The
mission of Dance Spirit is to provide a structured learning atmosphere
for dancers of all ages. Dance, movement, music and theater develop
healthy bodies, positive self-esteem, grace and poise. These skills are
taught in a safe and caring environment where individual differences
are accepted. |
Western Nevada College believes student clubs and
activities enhance campus life and put students in touch with others
who share common interests. The Lone Mountain Writers is open to
students, faculty and members of the community who share a passion for
writing in all genres. The group meets semi-monthly and offers
critiques, guest speakers and support. |

The Mile High Jazz Band, a 17
member "big band", including 16 instrumentalists and vocalist Sheryl
Adams, has been performing together since 1997. The group features
music in the Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman tradition,
as well as more contemporary styles. MHJB performs for community
events, fundraisers, dances, receptions, private parties, and in
concert. They have played benefits for New York Firefighters, Red Cross
Disaster Relief, Carson-Tahoe Hospital Foundation, and Douglas County

The BAC's King Street Gallery is home to the Nevada
Artists Association, a gathering of artists of all types from all over
the state. NAA works to develop and encourage the attainment and
maintenance of a high standard of art by continually promoting art
appreciation in the state of Nevada. As a Nevada Artists Association
member, whether you're a beginning artist or a professional, you become
a part of a network of nearly 300 individuals working together in a
supportive, enthusiastic organization. |

The Nevada Arts Council (NAC) is the agency charged
with ensuring that state and national funds support cultural activity
and encourage participation in the arts throughout Nevada. Funded
primarily by the Nevada State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, NAC also receives support from Western States Arts Federation. |
The rich railroading heritage of northern Nevada lives at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. An extraordinary collection of railroad equipment, artifacts, and related exhibits portray how the railroad transformed a hostile territory into an essential contributor to the growing nation. This history is brought to life through a variety of public programs, exhibits and seasonal train operations. |

The NCRVTR's goal is to create a
World-Class tourist destination by reconstructing 17+ miles of track
between Gold Hill and Carson City, restoring the V&T Railway to its
full original run. Through the 3 phases of the project, the Virginia
& Truckee will become one of the Top 10 Short Run Railroads in the
United States. |

Pinkerton Dance Academy is a comprehensive dance studio
where students of all ages learn ballet, tap, jazz, modern, tumbling,
and Irish dance from superior instructors. Pinkerton is also the
creator of Carson City’s beloved Nutcracker. The academy passes on the
love of dance, an art form that brings peace, fulfillment, and self

Proscenium Players, Inc. is a not-for-profit
corporation dedicated to presenting high quality Community Theater in
Carson City. Organized in 1965, PPI is the second oldest
continuously-operating theater company in Nevada. Over the years, our
shows have been varied: drama; musicals; comedy; classical;
improvisational; old favorites and avant-garde. |

Sierra Nevada Ballet is the new professional ballet
company for Northern Nevada. They are versatile and innovative,
incorporating the popular with the experimental, always a crowd pleaser
with music and different types of dance from well-known classical to
new age contemporary original pieces. Sierra Nevada Ballet features
world renowned principal dancers while also incorporating an apprentice
program for young dancers and a Young Choreographer's program for new
talent. |
Strings in the Schools is an exciting after-school
program held at Seeliger and Empire Elementary schools in Carson City, providing
beginning violin lessons for students grades 2-5 and ensemble/orchestra
experience for all string students in the Carson City School District.
Tuition and books are subsidized by the Carson City Symphony Association. |

WNCC officially become Western Nevada College on July
1, to reflect the college's expanding academic opportunities. In
addition to associate degrees, certificates of achievement, university
transfer programs, and continuing education, they also offer a Bachelor

Western Nevada College believes
the study of English
and creative writing will enhance students' communication skills, their

provides an environment where students will learn different strategies

completed manuscript, they will learn to anticipate and negotiate with
a target audience, creating a purposeful message with the English

| Western Nevada College Theater Department
Western Nevada College is a comprehensive college which
serves more than 6,000 students each semester within an
18,000-square-mile service area. The College has an outstanding theatre
department where students study plays and other dramatic works along
with productions they perform in. Classes cover theatre history,
playwriting, acting and directing, as well as lighting, scenery and
costume design. |
Western Nevada Musical Theatre Co.
The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is a regional theater
company that operates in Carson City, Nevada through the performing arts program of Western Nevada College.
The company produces three to five musicals each year, drawing thousands of
spectators and patrons from all around California
and Nevada. The
company's popularity led to development of an Associate
of Arts degree in Musical Theater, offering courses in acting, dance,
stagecraft and private vocal instruction.

Kaskie, is a comprehensive dance studio located in Carson City. It has
an outstanding, professional staff specializing in all styles of dance
including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater, Hip Hop and Lyrical. For
the dancer who wants to compete, they have a competition team. WNPAC is
a family studio and their classes are a positive environment for all
ages. |
Wild Horse Productions, is a non-profit organization
that was formed to enhance and enrich the Carson City community through
performing arts classes, high quality live theater, Outreach programs
in the community, and other educational programs in the theatrical
arts. Their children's theater program, Wild Horse Children's Theater,
was formed to create extraordinary theater experiences "by children -
for children" that educate, challenge, and inspire young people. |
